On August 22nd at 8:30 AM, I had a brief but insightful discovery call with an art advisor. Interestingly, this conversation reaffirmed something I’ve been avoiding for a while now—creating video content, specifically storytelling through video. Despite my hesitation, it seems that this may be the missing piece, the "stone that the builder refused," that could elevate my work and connect with a broader audience.
I found it intriguing that after only a quick glance at my website, the advisor recommended pausing my pursuit of licensing, collaborations, and placement opportunities to focus on storytelling. With time being so valuable, I didn't challenge the advice, especially since I've heard similar suggestions from others before.
If I’m going to dive into content creation, I believe it’s only fair to seek compensation for the significant effort it requires. My journey through various industries—as a marketer, graphic designer, and community coordinator—has equipped me with valuable insights and best practices that I’m eager to share with fellow creatives. Beyond that, I want to offer a behind-the-scenes look at how I craft my compositions, authentically brand my work, and develop my comic strips.
This content could serve two key groups: those looking for mentorship and best practices, and those curious about my creative process. By sharing this journey, I hope to generate income to support my small business while providing value to a community of like-minded individuals.
I’m planning to give this endeavor 90 days to gauge its potential. If you’re interested in specific content—whether it's insight into my creative process, works in progress, product development, mentoring, critiques, comic strip writing, or marketing tips—please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to hear from you at skywelkinstudios@gmail.com.
My goal isn’t just to earn income but to create a space where value and community thrive. Your support and feedback will be crucial in helping me shape this new chapter for Sky Welkin Studios.
